To quote my esteemed colleague, Captain Hook, Windows as of now is old, alone, done for. Apple's Boot Camp, to be officially featured in Leopard and available as a Beta download today, will open a whole new market segment for Macs, as witnessed by my nephew R who just agreed to buy one now that Windows runs on Macs, too. I think I'll have to say good bye to my PowerBook rather sooner than later, I am afraid. There's only two things I want now: to be able to boot Windows in an OS X window (the way it was in Virtual PC before that app was snatched by MSFT), and obviously Mac configurations with much larger hard drives! Oh, and a smaller MacBook Pro, for good measure ...
Insidious! Thanks Joel!

Now they gotta sell Mac OSX for non-Apple computers (this they're never gonna do). But I so want them to. I'm broke, but don't I deserve an Apple Computer too? Huh? Come on... sell it as a package, let someone pirate and hand it over to me. The Apple Authorized (by Apple, you'll find them on the apple.com site) actually hand out pirated copies of tiger.. I have proof!
Ah, believe me, you don't want to have OS X running on a measly beige box, it's just not done.
This is fun, btw. The stock market agrees with my opinion that this is big news and thinks it's worth about $5 bio in additional market cap.
Chris - don't get too excited. I have the virtual PC and unless you have the fasted running mac around, it's not worth using. IT's slower than a slug and usually just spins me silly to the point where I shut my computer down and go borrow someone's PC to do what I need to do...
Maybe my G4ibook isn't enough, but it should be able to run on virtual PC! They still have lots of work to improve it.
Oh, I don't think i am overexcited. This is big. Good old Powerbooks will not be able to keep up anymore, though. But with the new Macs, we're not talking Virtual PC any more, we're talking "real" PC on an Intel processor, not a software emulation. So the performance will be the same as with other platforms. That's why everybody is so excited about it.
Glad you liked that. It still makes me laugh on a third or fourth viewing.
